Tucked along the golden shoreline of KwaZulu-Natal’s North Coast, Salt Rock Caravan Park is a laid-back seaside escape that perfectly blends simplicity with spectacular ocean views. Just a short drive from the buzzing hub of Ballito, this well-positioned caravan park offers front-row access to warm Indian Ocean waters, salty sea breezes, and the kind of sunrise moments that make you pause and smile.
In this Sexy Rexy Adventures review, we share our honest take on the campsites, facilities, atmosphere, and everything in between — from beach walks and braais to the small details that make (or break) a coastal camping getaway.
There’s something undeniably special about waking up with the ocean quite literally on your doorstep — and at Salt Rock Caravan Park, that’s exactly what you get. The designated campsite areas are beautifully laid out with Astroturf underfoot, which not only keeps things neat and sand-free but adds a surprisingly comfortable touch to your beachfront stay. Step out of your caravan or tent, walk just a few metres, and you’re sinking your toes into the soft sand with the vast, sparkling Indian Ocean stretching endlessly before you. It’s hard to beat that kind of access.
The facilities are impressively maintained — spotless ablutions, tidy grounds, and a clear sense that the park is well cared for. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready with a smile, which adds so much to the overall experience. Pricing feels fair too, especially when you consider you’re paying for absolute beachfront positioning.
That said, honesty is what we’re about at Sexy Rexy Adventures. While we loved the location and comfort, we did note that the sites are positioned fairly close together. For us — as campers who lean toward more open, private spaces — peak season would likely feel a bit cramped. If you’re someone who thrives on social, festive campsite energy, this might be right up your alley. But if you prefer a quieter, more spaced-out setup, visiting in off-peak times would definitely be the better vibe.
Overall, it’s a fantastic beachfront caravan park that delivers on convenience, cleanliness, and coastal charm — especially if being steps away from the ocean is at the top of your camping wishlist.
